Visitphilly.com is the official visitor site for Greater Philadelphia where tens of thousands of people go to every day for knowledge and inspiration. The audience is young, ready to spend and discover things to do.
This design was my execution of a historic yet contemporary approach by using a modern serif, and a new take on a patriotic palette. It uses the red and blue as accents and visual cues, while a blend of light grays and white help keep the design clean and airy. Additionally, I thought through and prototyped loading animations and UI interactions for the site modules.
We used UI elements that are minimal yet maximize the best use of screen real estate. Instead of artwork images being top in hierarchy, we focused on the audio controls. We introduced nudges of audio and UI cues to lead the user from one tour to another.
